Admissions and Enrollment
Welcome to the new Admissions and Enrollment Process for students interested in Caprock Academy.
We are happy that you are considering Caprock Academy for your child's education. We are a K-12 public charter school that operates on a first come first served basis. There is no admission test to be accepted at Caprock Academy. We welcome all students and strive to create and maintain a diverse student population. Student recruitment and admissions decisions shall be made in a non-discriminatory manner as outlined in C.R.A.22-30.5-507(3). In all cases, student recruitment and admissions decisions shall be made without regard to disability, race, creed, color, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, religion, ancestry, need for special education services or any other protected class.
Step 1: Admissions and Enrollment Process for All New Students: Our process has changed for the 2021-2022 school year. Beginning January 29th, 2021, you may pick up a new 2021-2021 one-page Intent to Enroll Form at the school or follow the link below to download, print and complete the form.
Step 2: Turn in your Intent to Enroll Form - You must meet with the Registrar in-person to turn in the Intent to Enroll Form. Forms will be accepted beginning on February 8, 2021. If you do not live locally, please contact the Registrar at firstname.lastname@example.org. Intent to Enroll Forms will be accepted Monday through Thursday from 8:30 am – 1:30 pm, with the exception of Presidents’ Day in which forms will be accepted Tuesday through Friday that week. Forms will also be accepted on Tuesday, February 16 and 23 from 5 pm – 6 pm.
*Note: Kindergarten Intent to Enroll Forms MUST be turned in no later than Thursday, February 25, 2021 at 1:30 pm, in order to be included in the kindergarten lottery. Intent to Enroll Forms turned in after the above deadline are placed on the waiting list, after the lottery students, and according to the date and time that the Intent to Enroll Form is accepted by the Registrar.
When turning in the Intent to Enroll Form, please be aware that your wait time may be longer than expected, depending upon how many people are waiting. Our process has changed slightly due to COVID-19. You will need to check-in at the front office, be screened, and then will be asked to wait in your vehicle until your number is next, and we will come out to your vehicle to bring you inside for your meeting with the Registrar.
Step 3 and 4 for Kindergarten: Lottery and Waiting List Information: Kindergarten admission is determined by a lottery process dependent upon the number of openings available. The lottery will be held on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at 4:00 pm via Zoom. After the lottery is completed, Kindergarten positions will be offered via telephone beginning the afternoon of Wednesday, March 3, 2021. Step 3 and 4 for 1st -11th Grades: Open Positions and Waitlist: The last week in May/first week in June is when positions for 1st – 11th grade will be offered, if positions are available. Students are placed on the waiting list according to the date and time the Intent to Enroll Form is accepted by the Registrar.
Step 5: Once a position has been offered, you have 24 hours to accept the position via telephone at 970-243-1771, ext. 1132. You may leave a message after regular office hours.
Step 6: Once you have accepted a position, you have 3 business days to schedule an in-person meeting with the Registrar to turn in your child’s completed Enrollment Packet. Click below to download and print (single-sided for best results) or you may pick up the packet in the school office beginning on Tuesday, March 2, 2021. *Please note that up to two parents/guardians plus the student will be allowed on campus for that appointment.
Step 7: Attend scheduled meeting with the Registrar with the completed Enrollment Packet.
Admissions Eligibility: Admission at Caprock Academy is open to any child who resides within the state of Colorado. Free public education is available to students age 5-21 who have not yet graduated the 12th grade, nor who have been expelled in the preceding twelve months.
Kindergarten Admission: Children who are five years of age on or before September 15th of the school year in which they wish to enroll may submit an "Intent to Enroll" form. Children will be admitted based on a lottery process Caprock Academy may approve admission of students eligible for Early Access in accordance with state law.

On the waitlist? Admissions Continue: As positions become available, Admissions and Enrollment continue through January 21, 2022 for grades Kindergarten through 8th grade, even after the school year has begun. For 9th - 11th grade, Admissions and Enrollment have a different deadline through September 30, 2021. Twelfth grade students are admitted on a case by case basis due to the amount of credit hours required to graduate from Caprock Academy. Contact the Registrar for more information.
