School Counseling

Our Mission

To provide proactive comprehensive support to address students’ social, emotional, and educational needs. This happens with the help of parents/guardians, teachers and the community to help all students succeed in school and as life-long learners in our ever changing world.

See Something, Say Something

Safe2Tell is a Colorado program where individuals can make an anonymous report to authorities when there is a concern if someone is threatening them, as well as friends, family, or the community. This includes your school’s safety. This report can be done by either the parent or student. Many times, students are aware of mental health concerns about their peers before adults. Safe2Tells gives students the opportunity to make a call to help protect their classmate anonymously.

Caprock Academy supports this program by informing students and parents of the program and how to use it. At the school, posters are placed around campus, students are made aware of the program by the school counselors and teachers, information is available on Caprock Academy website, and the Safe2Tell phone number is provided on the back of your student’s ID.

As a parent or guardian, it is sometimes difficult to determine the next steps to help a student when you learn of concerns. Options to consider as a parent or student is to contact the school directly or a safe adult, or another option is to contact Safe2Tell. Safe2Tell works directly with law enforcement and is available 24/7.

If your desire is to protect, prevent, or help, please send in your report.  There are three ways to contact Safe2Tell. Safe2Tell has a website at https://safe2tell.org/ as well as contacting them via phone at 1-877-542-SAFE (7233), or by downloading their mobile app.

Suicide Prevention Program

September is Suicide Prevention Month, and at Caprock Academy, we take this topic very seriously. Mesa County has one of the highest suicide rates in the state, making prevention education a vital part of our commitment to student well-being.

Caprock Academy will be using the “In the Mix” program from the MetLife Foundation, which offers interactive lessons on:

  • Recognizing risk factors and warning signs

  • Understanding myths and facts about suicide

  • Learning how to help keep themselves and friends safe

Students will also receive a wallet-sized card with hotline numbers and Safe2Tell information for quick access to help. Our message is simple: “If you see something or hear something, say something.”

The program has been adapted for grades 6–8 to ensure all content is age-appropriate.
