Student Attendance

Regular and punctual attendance is an important part of student success. We ask families to help students arrive on time, prepared, and ready to learn each school day.

This page provides important information about reporting absences, student illness, late arrivals, early pick-up, and attendance expectations. Please review the information below so you are familiar with our procedures and know how to notify the school when your student will be absent, late, or leaving early.

Attendance Policy

Regular and punctual attendance is essential to student success. Caprock Academy’s Attendance Policy outlines expectations for absences, tardies, early pick-up, excused and unexcused absences, and attendance requirements.

Please review the full policy to understand your family’s responsibilities regarding student attendance.

Absence Reporting

The school must be notified of all student absences by 8:00 a.m. using one of of the following methods:

School staff member checking a student’s throat during a health office visit.

Student Illness

Please keep your student home if they have:

  • A fever of 100°F or higher
  • Flu-like symptoms
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea

Students may return to school after they have been fever-free and vomit-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication.

Students Who Become Ill During the School Day

If a student becomes ill or needs to go home during the school day, the Health Office will contact the parent or guardian to arrange pick-up.

If you authorize someone other than a parent or guardian to pick up your student, that individual must be authorized to pick up the student and must present a valid photo ID at the Front Office. Their ID will be scanned through our visitor management system before the student can be released.

For student safety, all students must complete the required check-out process before leaving campus.

Late Student Arrival

  • Please notify the front office by 8:00 AM if your student will be late to school.
  • Students are expected to be in their classroom, prepared for the day, by 7:35 AM.
  • Students will be considered tardy if they are not in their classroom to recite the Pledge of Allegiance at 7:45 AM.
  • Students who arrive late must report to the front office to receive a tardy slip before going to class.

Early Student Pick-Up

  • Please notify the front office by 9:00 AM if you need to pick up your student early.
  • Late or last-minute requests may result in a delay in getting your student to the office.
  • Please try to avoid requests after 2:45 PM, as classrooms are already preparing for afternoon dismissal and may not be available to bring students to the office.
  • Parents/Guardians or individuals on the student’s pick-up list are required to present a valid ID when picking up a student.  Their ID will be scanned through our visitor management system before the student can be released.
  • Students must be signed out prior to leaving campus by front office staff.
  • High school students with permission to drive may sign themselves out, but only with parent/guardian permission each time.
