March Core Virtue: Forgiveness
The conscious decision to release feelings of resentment, hurt, or ill will, choosing instead to let go of the past and move forward.
As we head into the longer days of spring, winter sports have come and gone, and the Caprock Eagle track team has begun its season. This time of year reminds me of new beginnings and the reforging of ideas and dreams that may have been frozen by a long winter.
March also holds the final days of the 3rd quarter, leading up to parent/teacher conferences on March 4–6, with the quarter officially ending on Thursday, March 12.
After Spring vacation, we move into April and the yearly CMAS testing season. For those who may not know, Caprock Academy has been mandated to administer CMAS using a completely online format. This will be a first for Caprock Academy, as we have always chosen paper-and-pencil testing in the past. Our purchase of 90 new computers, the addition of a new computer lab last summer, along with wireless network upgrades, will allow Caprock Academy to successfully test CMAS online this year and into the future.
The weeks following Spring Break are both the busiest and the most rewarding time of year for any school, as we look ahead to the graduation of the Caprock Academy senior class of 2026. Throughout April and May, Caprock will host many year-end performances, school events, and final celebrations as we approach the end of the school year. Please continue to consult our Weekly Communique or the Caprock website for up-to-date information on all school activities throughout the remainder of the year.
During the fourth quarter, families will notice a new addition to Caprock Academy property. Recently, our school was awarded another Safety and Security Grant. Caprock Academy is the only school in Mesa County that is not currently surrounded by security fencing along its perimeter, and this project will add fencing along the south and west property lines. In addition to the fencing project, this grant will also fund the resurfacing of the kindergarten playground. The current wood chip ground cover will be replaced with soft, rubberized playground material found in many modern playgrounds. This resurfacing will take place over the summer. These are two important facility upgrades that are fully grant funded and will not impact the Caprock Academy general fund budget.
Matt
