The Caprock Academy Board of Directors, Faculty, and Administration warmly welcome you to Caprock Academy. Our Family Handbook has been created to provide you with essential information about our mission, philosophy, policies, and practices.

We encourage you to read it thoroughly and refer to it whenever you have questions. We hope it reinforces your decision to be part of Caprock Academy. This handbook serves both as an overview of our values and a resource for the most referenced policies, including our dress code policy.

Remediation

In order to help all students achieve their highest academic and character potential, remediation procedures will be established by grade-level or department specific educational teams and approved by the corresponding Deans and Head of School. Procedures will reflect developmentally appropriate expectations and will be consistent within K-6 grade levels and 7-12 grade levels. Remediation procedures will be communicated to parents.

Late Work

Registered Sex Offender Information

Support for Justice-Engaged Students and Families

Caprock Academy is committed to supporting students involved in the juvenile or criminal justice system and ensuring they remain connected to their education.

Justice-engaged students have the right to an education and can receive assistance with enrollment, re-enrollment, academic records, credits, graduation planning, career and college preparation, and educational support services.

The district’s designated Point of Contact is available to help students and families navigate available resources and connect with appropriate school staff, including counselors, support teams, special education and 504 staff, mental health professionals, and career and technical education personnel. The Point of Contact will respond to inquiries within three business days.

Caprock Academy will work with justice-engaged students to identify appropriate educational pathways and review coursework or credits completed while in custody. When applicable, the district will explore alternative educational options before denying enrollment or re-enrollment.

Student privacy and confidentiality will be protected in accordance with applicable federal and state laws. Families may also be connected with Colorado Department of Education resources and, when available, the Justice Engaged Youth hotline.

Registered Sex Offender Information

In accordance with Colorado Revised Statutes § 22-1-124, Caprock Academy provides information about where and how community members may obtain law enforcement information concerning registered sex offenders.

Online: Visit the Grand Junction Police Department Registered Sex Offender Information page to access available search resources.
In person: Visit the Grand Junction Police Department at 555 Ute Avenue, Grand Junction, CO 81501, to request a copy of the registered sex offender registry for the City of Grand Junction.
By telephone: Questions may be directed to the Grand Junction Police Department’s Registered Sex Offender Information line at 970-549-5234.
Statewide information: Additional resources are available through the Colorado Bureau of Investigation Sex Offender Registration Unit.

Caprock Academy does not maintain the sex offender registry. Questions about registry information should be directed to the appropriate law enforcement agency.
