Summer Reading for Caprock Staff

At Caprock Academy, we believe that great educators are also lifelong learners. Each summer, our teachers, educational assistants, office staff, and administrators participate in a shared reading experience selected by the administrative team. This tradition strengthens our professional culture, encourages meaningful dialogue, and helps us grow together as a unified learning community.

The 2025 staff summer reading selections are:

  • Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury

  • Tried and True: A Primer on Sound Pedagogy by Daniel B. Coupland and Cheryl Swope

Fahrenheit 451 is a powerful, thought-provoking novel that explores the importance of knowledge, intellectual freedom, and the consequences of a society that suppresses truth. As a classical school, we value open inquiry and the pursuit of wisdom—making this text especially relevant to our mission.

Tried and True offers practical and philosophical insight into classical pedagogy, reinforcing the time-tested teaching principles that form the foundation of our educational approach. It provides staff with both encouragement and clarity as we continue to cultivate excellence in the classroom.

Staff will engage with these texts throughout the summer and come together for discussion and reflection at the start of the school year. Together, we read to lead.
