State Testing at Caprock Academy

Each spring, Caprock Academy participates in the Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) and other state-mandated assessments. These assessments are part of Colorado’s effort to measure student learning, support school improvement, and ensure students are on track for success.

Who is Tested:

  • CMAS: Administered to students in grades 3–8, with additional Science testing for grades 5, 8, and 11

  • PSAT: Required for students in grades 9 and 10

  • SAT: Required for students in grade 11

  • Social Studies: Administered once every three years to grades 4, 7, and 10

2025 Testing Window

Dates will be announced soon.  Please check back later.

Testing will take place during both morning and afternoon sessions. Specific schedules for each grade level will be provided separately.

Why It Matters

Strong performance on state assessments helps demonstrate the quality of education at Caprock Academy and supports our efforts to secure funding and attract high-quality educators. While these tests are only one measure of student success, they provide valuable insight into academic progress.

Helping Your Child Prepare

You can support your child’s success on testing days by:

  • Ensuring they get adequate sleep the night before

  • Providing a healthy breakfast and nutritious lunch

  • Making sure they arrive on time and attend the full school day

  • Avoiding appointments or early dismissals during the testing window

To reduce stress and allow students to focus, no homework will be assigned on testing days except for independent reading.

Additional Notes

  • Make-up Testing is required for any missed assessments and can disrupt regular instruction. Please do your best to avoid absences during the testing period.

  • Parent volunteers are not permitted on campus during state testing. If you need to deliver an item during the day, please leave it at the front office—we’ll ensure it reaches your child when testing concludes.

  • Signage will be posted throughout the building to indicate when and where testing is in progress.

If you have questions about testing or the opt-out process, please contact:

Thank you for partnering with us to support your child’s academic success. We are proud of our students and all they are achieving.
