Our educational philosophy involves three elements:
- Classical school methodology
- Core Knowledge Curriculum
- Character Education
While the first two elements address what a student will know, the third element addresses the kind of person they will become.
Classical School Methodology
All students are instructed using a classical education approach of the trivium: grammar (receive and gather information), logic (arrange and connect the information), and rhetoric (put the information in practical expression).
Core Knowledge Curriculum
Core Knowledge is a solid, shared, specific, and sequenced core curriculum establishing strong foundations of knowledge. Each grade builds on the instruction and learning that came in earlier grades.
Character Education
Our whole school has an emphasis on community; educating our students to be positive members of that community is part of what we believe.
Other Curriculum
Caprock Academy will evaluate other curriculum to assess its fit with our philosophy and core values. Those currently being considered include:
- Shurley English - grammar
- Riggs Instruction - phonics-based reading
- Singapore Math - math computation
